In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of the most widely used assisted reproductive technology, used in case of infertility for creating an embryo, which is caused by mild sperm abnormalities in men and women due to fallopian tube or ovulation irregularity.
During an IVF process, a woman’s eggs are retrieved surgically and later fertilized in a laboratory by mixing with the partner or in some cases donor’s sperm. Later the fertilized egg, or embryo, is allowed to grow for duration of two to five days and is then transferred back into the woman’s womb through a surgical process by a IVF Specialist.
There are several factors which need to be evaluated to determining if a patient is suitable for IVF treatment. Appropriate candidates often include couples who are experiencing:
• Low egg count
• Low sperm counts
• Problems with the uterus or fallopian tubes
• Endometriosis
• Sperm unable to penetrate or survive in the cervical mucus
• Ovulation disorders
• Other health or unexplained reproductive issues
The only way to know for sure if in vitro fertilization is right for you is to undergo a complete exam and consultation with Dr. Ashish Kale an IVF specialist in Latur.
The average IVF success rates using one’s own eggs is observed to drop after the age of thirty and even rapidly in the mid-30s and early 40s, because of lower egg quality and quantity. At Ashakiran Hospital an IVF centre, we make it a point to thrive for high success rates for our patients.
In addition to age, success rates with IVF also concern one’s weight, height, infertility diagnosis, sperm count. Also the reproductive history such as the previous number of miscarriages, pregnancies, and births.
While selecting a good infertility centre one should consider the following point before goging further:
• State of art lab
• Evidence based practice
• Tailor made protocols
• Availability of doctors
• Well trained staff
In vitro fertilization process can take anywhere in between four to six weeks before egg retrieval. After two to five days the embryos will be implanted. In very few cases, patients might need to go through multiple IVF cycles before finally becoming pregnant.
